Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare neuromuscular disorder marked by a variable combination of weakness of eye, bulbar, respiratory, axial, and limb muscles. This study compared the experience of people...

Patients with MG experienced significantly more mental health issues, pain, and difficulties in performing usual activities versus the general population.

Myasthenia Gravis and Five Autoimmune Diseases: a Bidirectional Mendelian Randomization Study

Myasthenia Gravis and Five Autoimmune Diseases: a Bidirectional Mendelian Randomization Study

Source : https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10072-023-07163-3

The association between myasthenia gravis (MG) and other autoimmune diseases is well established. In this study, we aimed to investigate the causal effects between MG and five other autoimmune diseases,...

When MG was treated as the exposure, MR evidence suggested a causal relationship between MG and T1DM, SLE, AITD (both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism), and MS (excluding RA).

Usefulness and Clinical Impact of Whole-Body MRI in Detecting Autoimmune Neuromuscular Disorders

Usefulness and Clinical Impact of Whole-Body MRI in Detecting Autoimmune Neuromuscular Disorders

Source : https://www.mdpi.com/2076-3425/13/10/1500

Autoimmune neuromuscular diseases are a group of heterogenous pathologies secondary to the activation of the immune system that damage the structures of the peripheric nerve, the neuromuscular junction, or the...

The limit of whole-body MRI in assessing myasthenia gravis is its poor spatial resolution for evaluating retroorbital muscles. In this case, the MRI focused on the orbital region is an excellent imaging tool for the evaluation of extraorbital muscle involvement.

Myasthenia Gravis: Molecular Mechanisms and Promising Therapeutic Strategies

Myasthenia Gravis: Molecular Mechanisms and Promising Therapeutic Strategies

Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a type of autoimmune disease caused by the blockage of neuromuscular junction transmission.

The treatment of MG has changed from traditional drug therapies, such as AChEI and corticosteroids, to novel therapies using biologicals, such as B- and T-cell targeted immunotherapies, complement inhibitor therapy, FcRn inhibitor therapy, and stem cell therapy.
