IDIOPATHIC INTRACRANIAL HYPERTENSION (IIH) (PSEUDOTUMOR CEREBRI) SYMPTOMS, CAUSES, AND TREATMENTS. - Headache and Facial Pain Symptom Checker
@Neuralgroover Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) was previously called pseudotumor cerebri. Pseudotumor cerebri was an old term which was often confusing to patients because this disorder is not because of a brain tumor. Brain tumors in strategic areas of the brain can block the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which can cause back up and elevation of CSF pressure, called hydrocephalus.
Relevance: In this retrospective case-control study, researchers investigated whether hyperintensity on non-enhanced 2D-T2/FLAIR imaging is more likely in IIH patients vs controls. They also examined the relationship between FLAIR signal and visual parameters

Background and Purpose: T2/FLAIR hyperintensity of the optic nerve/optic nerve head has been described as a sensitive finding in idiopathic intracranial hypertension using post-contrast 3D-T2/FLAIR imaging.
