In this narrative review we provide an update and a critical analysis of available data on miRNAs and migraines in order to propose possible interpretations. Our main objective is to stimulate research in an area that holds promise when it comes to providing reliable biomarkers for theoretical and practical scientific advances.

Migraine and Stroke: In Search of Shared Pathways, Mechanisms, and Risk Factors
Migraines are one of the emerging causes of disabilities experienced worldwide, and strokes are the second leading cause of death globally. Migraines with aura have been reported to be associated...
In this article, we discuss the mechanisms linking migraines and strokes, briefly discuss the pathogenesis, and explore the risk factors contributing to the association therein. In addition, we examine the relationship between migraines and ischemic strokes, as well as hemorrhagic strokes, and review management considerations.

Psychophysical testing in chronic migraine and chronic tension type headache: An observational study - PubMed

Chronic tension-type headache and chronic migraine showed similar psychophysical results, but were significantly worse when compared to controls. The psychophysical examination did not discriminate between headache types. The variable best...
Conclusions: Chronic tension-type headache and chronic migraine showed similar psychophysical results, but were significantly worse when compared to controls. The psychophysical examination did not discriminate between headache types. The variable best explaining headache frequency for both headache types was neck disability.

Expression of Selected microRNAs in Migraine: A New Class of Possible Biomarkers of Disease?
Source : https://www.mdpi.com/2227-9717/9/12/2199
Preliminary but convergent findings suggest a role for microRNAs (miRNAs) in the generation and maintenance of chronic pain and migraine. Initial observations showed that serum levels of miR-382-5p and miR-34a-5p...
We feel that these miRNAs may represent useful tools to uncover and define different phenotypes across the migraine spectrum with different treatment susceptibilities and clinical features, although further studies are needed to confirm our hypothesis. In this narrative review we provide an update and a critical analysis of available data on...

Headache provocation by nitric oxide in men who have never experienced a headache - PubMed

We show that men who have never experienced a headache develop a headache when provoked with Isosorbide-5-mononitrate. This indicates that freedom from headache in men is not related to the...
Conclusion: We show that men who have never experienced a headache develop a headache when provoked with Isosorbide-5-mononitrate. This indicates that freedom from headache in men is not related to the nitric oxide pathway which is involved in the primary headache disorders.
