Relevance: Brain networks have significant implications for the understanding of migraine pathophysiology and prognosis. This study aimed to investigate whether large-scale network dysfunction in patients with migraine without aura (MwoA) could predict the efficacy of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Conclusion: In this DCE assessing CGRP inhibitors attributes, the main driver of patient choice was treatment effectiveness, specifically reduced migraine severity, and consistent treatment effectiveness. Further, patients exhibited an overall preference for an oral tablet every other day over injectables. Patients' experience with previous treatments informs the value they place on treatment characteristics.

Risk factors of vestibular migraine-related brain white matter lesions - Acta Neurologica Belgica

Risk factors of vestibular migraine-related brain white matter lesions - Acta Neurologica Belgica

Source : https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s13760-022-02076-y

Objective and purpose Migraine is related to white matter lesions (WMLs), and attack frequency and duration in migraine patients are thought to increase WMLs. However, the relationship between vestibular migraine...

Conclusion: These results substantiate that vertigo frequency is an independent risk factor for WMLs in VM. A high frequency of vertigo episodes is more likely to be associated with WMLs than a low frequency. These results suggest a possible approach to the prevention of WMLs in VM patients.

Real-World Patient Experience of CGRP-Targeting Therapy for Migraine: a Narrative Review - Current Pain and Headache Reports

Real-World Patient Experience of CGRP-Targeting Therapy for Migraine: a Narrative Review - Current Pain and Headache Reports

Source : https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11916-022-01077-z

Purpose of Review To summarize available calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP)-targeting therapies for migraine and discuss their use in real-world populations. Background CGRP has long been a topic of interest in migraine pathophysiology, with new therapies targeting CGRP since 2018 for both the preventive and acute treatment of migraine.

Recent findings and summary: Overall, studies reporting real-world patient experiences of CGRP-targeting therapies suggested meaningful effectiveness for migraine treatment with response rates comparable to the numbers reported in clinical trials. Furthermore, studies suggested benefit in patients with multiple prior unsuccessful treatment trials, medication overuse, and complex medical comorbidities. In some studies, adverse event rates have been notably higher than reported in clinical trials. Additional long-term data is needed to further evaluate sustained efficacy, predictors of treatment response, and adverse events.

Non-aura visual disturbance with high visual aura rating scale scores has stronger association with migraine chronification than typical aura - PubMed

Non-aura visual disturbance with high visual aura rating scale scores has stronger association with migraine chronification than typical aura - PubMed

Conclusion: Presence of non-aura transient visual disturbance may suggest a higher migraine-related disability and is linked to higher risk of chronic migraine than typical migraine aura in migraine patients. Further studies are needed to elucidate the potential mechanism.
