Migraine is a common neurovascular condition. This disorder has a complex genetic background. Several single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) or mutations within genes regulating glutamatergic neurotransmission, cortical excitability, ion channels, and solute carriers have been associated with polygenic and monogenic forms of migraine.
