This is an editorial regarding a randomized blinded trial of mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) in migraine. I would recommend reviewing the actual article:JAMA Intern Med. doi:10.1001/jamainternmed.2020.7090
Published online December 14, 2020.
This was a well conducted study comparing MBSR versus headache education. Both showed a reduction in headache frequency (primary outcome) but MBSR was more effective at reducing disability, depression, pain catastrophizing and improving self efficacy and quality of life which was sustained over 36 weeks. This is further support of nonpharmacologic approaches to headache management.
